Mary Davidson was born in Dundee in 1955, lived in Australia for a few years as a child, and has been living and working in the Glasgow and Edinburgh areas since 1986.  In the early 90's she attended Glasgow School of Art on the Continued Learning Programme.  Having drawn and painted most of her life, and after being invited to exhibit in many galleries throughout Scotland, she decided in 1994 to make painting her career and became a professional artist.

In 1995 Mary was elected an artist member of the Paisley Art Institute (PAI) and the following year was accepted into the Glasgow Society of Women Artists (GSWA).  Her work has been accepted for exhibition at the Royal Glasgow Institute (RGI), the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour (RSW) and for the Laing Exhibition.

She has exhibited in numerous group exhibitions throughout Scotland and the rest of the UK, including The Hagen Fine Art Gallery in London and has exhibited abroad in the Green Gallery in Munich, Germany, and in the South of France and New York. Mary has also had a number of highly successful solo shows.

Working mostly in oils Mary uses brushes, knives, fingers, indeed almost anything to hand, to produce the desired result. Her floral and still life pieces show great composition, are wonderfully crafted and over the years she has developed a style that is instantly recognisable and her own.

Her work is in numerous private and public collections including Vanity Fair in New York, the Duke of Bedford, Grays School of Art, East Dunbartonshire Council and Cala Homes.
