Alan Reed

B. 1961

Allan reed was born in the North of England and comes from a family of artists. His father is Ken Reed the internationally acclaimed golf artist, whose work is on the walls of many of the world’s greatest golfers and most prestigious golf clubhouses, and his grandfather and great grandfather were also established painters.

Allan studied art and design at Newcastle College of Art in 1978 – 82 and began work as a professional illustrator doing artist impressions of new building projects for architectural firms. Over the years he developed his own artistic style that today is instantly recogniseable in terms of landscapes, cityscapes, principally in watercolour.

His representational style is fluid and expressive capturing the light of the moment and in particular the hustle and bustle of street life.

His paintings have been officially nationally recognised with the selection of a number of his works in the Sunday Times watercolour competition over three successive years, and in 2010 he was awarded 1st Runner-up in “the Bath Prize” and had another “highly commended” award in the same exhibition.

Allan has received many important commissions, not the least being from the Government in Oman. His work is represented in many corporate and private collections including Coutts Bank, Rolls Royce, Northern Rock plc and the Hotel Relais il Canalicchio in Italy.
